Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar of its purpose. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal However, it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is often known as the place where she was born. But she only was there for a brief duration. Brugel grew on Courtice located just outside Oshawa in Ontario. She had a dream to become a dancer, however a rapid growth rate meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. She admitted in an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. As soon as I outgrew all my male partners and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school which led her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to find a role in school's annual production. After trying out, she ended up as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program and graduated in 2000 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. For the past twenty years, her roles on television and the big screen have been varied. Her role as Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale, a series that was produced over the course of ten years.
